Hotmail's users: Be Careful of a malicious scam
By Benny Yacobi on May 20, 2011
Today I received an email with the innocent title “[Windows Live E-mail : Hotmail alert ********@hotmail.com]”. Later I realized that this email has not been sent by Windows Live, but it is a phishing scam.
It says:
Dear **********@hotmail.com,
This e-mail has been sent to you by Hotmail to inform you that your account will be deactivated within the next 24 hours due to several unsuccessful login attemps on your account.
To prevent this to happen please login securely to our activation link below:
https://login.hotmail.com/config/login_verify2?puser=*******@hotmail.com
If you have already confirmed your information then please disregard this message.
Regards,
Hotmail member services.
Hotmail member services.
But the web address behind the login.hotmail.com is a malicious link, which will lead to lose the credentials of the users, hence the user will become a victim. You guys are advised not to open any of the links. Otherwise, you will be redirected to some rogue websites hosting with some malicious data.
Please notify your friends too!
